Volkswagen have received 15,000 orders for the new ID.3 in just the first week of pre-orders

It was a big statement from Volkswagen that their ID.3 electric car would be the third chapter in the company’s long history. When you consider that the first two were the Beetle and then Golf that’s a lot to live up to. But less than one week after the start of pre-orders for the ID.3 more than 15,000 orders have already been received.

Potential customers in Europe can register for an early production slot for the ID. 3 online and paying a deposit of €1,000. The first cars will be delivered to customers mid 2020.

The Volkswagen ID.3 is was first shown as a prototype at the 2016 Paris Motor Show and will be one of five new Volkswagen brand models based on the MEB platform.

All we really know is that there will be three different battery options offered with the ID.3 :-
Base: 45 kWh battery, 330 km WLTP range
Mid-spec: 58 kWh battery, 420 km WLTP range
Top-spec: 77 kWh battery, 550 km WLTP range

VW have also announced that its Zwickau factory is on track to be converted to only produce EV’s and will eventually be making 330,000 electric cars every year.
